Who am I?
well, here's the answer : Hi! My name is Karen, I am 11 years old, I am a world-schooler, and has traveled to several countries, though currently, due to Covid-19, I am now staying in Malaysia.
Why am I writing this?
some people might ask, the reason I started writing this blog is a little funny. I wrote in a diary, but I didn't like handwriting. It always looed messy and hard to read. in fact, I cant even read some of my diary entries now! I thought typing looked easier, and more fun, so I looked for an online replacement, and found blogging, so I decided to take all my world-schooling experiences and use a single blog altogether, therefore making this!
What is a worldschooler?
here you've seen me write/type the word "world-schooler" many times, but what exactly is a world-schooler? well, a world-schooler is basically a few people, usually a child(ren) and the guardian(s) who travel the world and learn new things by talking to others, reading, street-smart, and/or learning about other cultures, does that mean that going on a field-trip with your teacher is considered as world-schooling? the answer is no. World-schooling is not a one time thing, and usually, on field trips, you don't talk with new people, I'm not exactly saying that it's walking up to a stranger and starting up a conversation, sometimes you can go to new places like a museum (maybe not now though, since COVID-19 is in action) and talk to the staff and learn new things from him/her as well as the exhibits, or you can bring a dictionary or something of the likes while traveling and interact with locals, as me and my family had done in a Taiwanese local school.
What do I do when I am worldschooling?
I'll do the most recent one here. This one took place in Italy!
So, we(My mom, my brother and I) went to Hong Kong to see dad, and we wanted to learn something new together. Then, we decided, why not learn snowboarding? One of our friends is a snowboarding coach, so we asked him. We ended up going to the Dolomites Alps in Italy, and it was really fun cos there was snow everywhere, something you could never see in Malaysia.
At first, I had wanted to do skiing, and I was kind of sad when we decided to do snowboarding instead, but when we started, I ended up really liking it, even the falling down(a lot)! Anyways, it was really fun, especially the ski lift where we had to hold onto, not the sitting one. It was also really hard, though, because that lift is not very well fitted for snowboarders. My brother and I managed to make it to the top in the end, though!
Some of the things I learned World-schooling
I'll start this time with my favorite ones, my most favorite one was when I learned how to use Scratch Programming, that uses blocks, my accounts are Scratch-in-sprites and DEP20010048. My second favorite is learning how to read, because now I love to read books and my third favorite is experiencing school, it felt like a holiday for me and my brother! One of my least favorite is when I learned that trust is to be earned.

My favorite quote
"Those who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who will" -Steve Jobs- This quote is my absolute favorite because it speaks to my heart. It feels so real and powerful to me. You know why? Because I believe that even as an 8-year-old girl, I can make a difference in this big world. My brother and I, we started a special movement in our school. We said no to single-use plastics! And you know what? It actually worked! We showed everyone that small actions can create big changes. It made me feel like a superhero, fighting for our planet. I have this burning desire inside me to make the world understand the dangers we are facing. Our beautiful Earth is in trouble, and I want to help. I want to raise awareness and inspire others to take action. We need to protect our planet for ourselves and for future generations. I hope this quote inspires you too, to believe in yourself and your ability to change the world. Let's stand together and make a difference, one small step at a time! Thanks for reading, see you next time!
